Floyd County, VA – May 26 – A local man was killed Friday morning after being involved in a head-on collision that turned into a multi-vehicle crash.

 

According to official reports by Roanoke.com, the accident occurred around 11 a.m. on Blue Ridge Parkway.

 

Chief Ranger Steve Stinnett said a head-on collision had occurred between a Hyundai sedan heading south and a motorcycle heading north.

 

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The driver of the Hyundai, Hannah Sutphin, 23, was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was listed in good condition Friday.

 

Two other bikers that were riding with the motorcyclist who died were also injured after hitting debris from the initial crash.

 

One of them was transported to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. The other was treated at the scene of the accident.

 

Stinnett said the three motorcyclists were related. He believes they were heading to the campground at Peaks of Otter when the incident took place.
