Rut Roh Raggy, GM forgot a brake pad on the 2012 Chevy Sonic | Virginia Defective Products Attorney

Posted on Jan 05, 2012

General Motors (GM) is embarrassed to say the least by failing to install a brake pad in some of its new subcompact 2012 Chevy Sonics that were manufactured between June 2, 2011 through November 21, 2011.
Apparently it was initially discovered when a rental unit was being serviced. Upon further investigation, GM found that the brake pads fell off during shipping before the cars were even assembled. Thankfully, no injuries or car accidents have been reported due to missing brake pads.
About 4,800 units are part of this recall and owners will be notified around January 14, 2012 about the issue. As part of the recall, dealers will inspect the vehicle for any missing brake pad and will also replace any damaged brake caliper or rotor.
2012 Sonic owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
