Two Dead in Springfield Four-Car Crash

Posted on May 18, 2010

A fatal four-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Va. left two people dead and several others with accident injuries.

Fox affiliate WWTG-TV (channel 5) reports that the fatal Fairfax County multi-car crash occurred on Fairfax County Parkway when two northbound vehicles - a Honda Pilot and a Toyota sedan - inexplicably crossed the median and drove into oncoming traffic.

The errant vehicles crashed into two southbound vehicles, including a Toyota pickup truck.

As of this posting, Fairfax County Police had not yet released the names of the accident victims, but confirmed that two adults in the Honda were killed in the car crash. Three children riding in the vehicle were transported to the hospital for treatment of accident injuries.

The driver of the Toyota also was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening accident injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the car crash, but have indicated that inclement weather may have played a role.

Our heart goes out to the family and friends of the victims for their terrible and heartbreaking loss. We offer our deepest condolences to the victims' families. We wish the other victims the very best for a quick and complete recovery.

Contacting a Personal Injury Lawyer

It would be in the victim's families' best interest to contact an experienced Springfield, Virginia personal injury lawyer, who can analyze all elements of this tragic accident and ensure they get the justice and compensation they rightfully deserve. In any fatal car accident case involving a negligent driver, families of deceased victims may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation for medical/funeral expenses and other damages.

A qualified Virginia accident lawyer should also look into whether there was a dangerous condition on the roadway. If such a condition caused or contributed to this fatal car accident, the city or governmental agency responsible for maintaining that particular roadway could be held liable. Virginia has a statute of limitations which may prevent you from filing a claim against a governmental agency if too much time has passed.
