Waynesboro, VA Police Searching For Clues In Fatal Pedestrian Accident
Waynesboro, VA – July 5 – Local police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that left a woman dead Tuesday night.
According to official reports by newsvirginian.com, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. on Lew DeWitt Boulevard.
Police said a 2003 GMC Envoy that was driven by an unidentified male driver hit Sheilah Woods, 33, while she was walking in the southbound lanes of Lew DeWitt.
Officials have taken measurements at the scene of the accident to determine how fast the SUV was going when it crashed into Woods.
They are continuing their search for clues at this time.
Waynesboro Police Sgt. Brian Edwards said Lew DeWitt is a highway that is not “easily accessible for pedestrians.” He urges pedestrians to take extra caution when on that road.
