The Parrish Car Accident & Personal Injury Law Firm | October 14, 2025 | Community Involvement

As temperatures drop across Northern Virginia, the need for warm winter clothing becomes urgent for many local families. To help meet this need, The Parrish Car Accident & Personal Injury Law Firm has kicked off its annual “500 Coat Drive,” a community initiative dedicated to collecting and distributing new and gently used coats to those who need them most.
Donations are being accepted through October 31, 2025, at designated drop-off sites throughout the region.
A Community Tradition of Giving Back
Now in its fifth year, the 500 Coat Drive was created to bring warmth, comfort, and compassion to Virginia residents facing financial hardship. Founding attorney James R. Parrish said the program’s mission is about more than just clothing — it’s about community connection and dignity.
“Each year, we see how a simple act like donating a warm coat can make a meaningful difference for someone in need,” Parrish said. “Our goal with the 500 Coat Drive is to bring our community together in a practical way that helps families prepare for winter with dignity and comfort.”
Why Your Support Matters
According to the State of ALICE in Virginia 2025 report by United for ALICE and United Way, nearly four in ten Virginia households struggle to afford basic necessities like housing, food, and transportation. As temperatures drop, many of our neighbors are forced to make difficult choices between paying bills and staying warm.
That’s why community efforts like the 500 Coat Drive matter so much. By donating a new or gently used coat, you’re helping bridge that gap and providing comfort, dignity, and warmth to families who need it most this winter.
How to Participate in the 2025 Coat Drive
Participating is easy — residents can:
- Drop off new or gently used coats at Parrish Law Firm’s offices in Manassas, Leesburg, and Fairfax during business hours
- Organize a mini-drive at work, school, or in their neighborhood
- Spread the word on social media to help reach the 500-coat goal
Each donation brings Northern Virginia one step closer to ensuring no one faces winter unprepared. After the October 31 deadline, all coats will be sorted and distributed to community organizations ahead of the coldest months of the year.
Community Partnerships and Engagement
The 500 Coat Drive has always relied on the generosity and collaboration of the Northern Virginia community. From local schools to small businesses, residents consistently exceed expectations year after year.
Jim Parrish noted, “When we started this program, we set a goal of 500 coats — and every year, the response has exceeded expectations. It’s a reminder that small actions collectively create a big impact.”
In addition to donating coats, volunteers are welcome to help with sorting and distribution after the drive ends. The firm will work with regional shelters and nonprofit partners to ensure the coats reach those most in need before winter weather sets in.
