Dog Savagely Attacks Sleeping Infant

May 7, 2012 by Parrish Law Firm, PLLC

Amissville, V.A. – May 3 – A Jack Russell terrier owned by a family in Amissville has reportedly mauled a 20-day-old infant child while he was sleeping in his bassinet, local authorities stated on Tuesday.

The newborn baby boy sustained more than 30 dog bites in the attack and is currently listed in stable condition at nearby Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church.

The unidentified family, whose last name will not be released to the press as deemed by local police, resides on Colvin Road. A recently released press statement indicates that at approximately 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday evening, an ambulance was dispatched to the victim’s home. Just prior to the placement of the phone call, a family member discovered the dog biting the infant in his crib. The child’s father shot and killed the family pet immediately following the attack.

According to the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office, no charges have been filed and none are expected at this time.
